The 88-Step Taijiquan form places its emphasis on the heart–mind first, then the body. When the mind leads and the body follows, they move as one harmonious unit. Combined with natural breathing, the movements become highly coordinated—centred, graceful, relaxed, and continuous.
As we progress through the sequence, the body remains upright and balanced, carrying a sense of ease and poise. Muscles and joints soften and become more agile, allowing the movements to flow like drifting clouds or gentle streams—slow, smooth, and unbroken.
The 88-Step Taijiquan is renowned for its profound health benefits. Its unique characteristics, inner philosophy, and integrated approach to body–mind training make it a powerful practice for wellbeing. Like other Tai Chi forms, it offers a wide range of mental and physical advantages, particularly in:
-
Reducing stress and calming the mind
-
Improving blood circulation and Qi flow
-
Increasing joint mobility and enhancing muscle tone
-
Strengthening the immune system
-
…and much more
This weekend programme is designed as a dedicated instructor module, suitable for Deyin instructors of all levels. Upon successful completion of the course and final assessment, participants will be fully certified to teach the form. Instructors who are already qualified in the form are welcome to attend the retreat module as a refresher, an opportunity to update their skills, and a chance to complete revalidation.
If you’re looking to deepen your understanding, refine your practice, and expand your teaching repertoire, this is a wonderful opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
Note: Instructors who are new to the 88-Step Taijiquan form are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the sequence beforehand. This preparation will allow them to gain deeper insights during the training and make the most of the in‑depth instruction provided.
